Fillet Crochet Cat Wallhanging

This panel is crocheted around shaped piece of wire and threaded with colorful ribbon to make charming window accent.

 SIZE 
Approx. 9.5x 11.5".

MATERIALS
 30 g crochet cotton thread. Steel crochet hook U.S. size 12. (U.K. size 5) 43.25" long wire 1/10" in diameter.

STITCHES USED
 U.S. - Chain stitch (ch), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc). U.K. - Chain stitch, double crochet, treble crochet.


GAUGE 
24.5 squares in height and width = 4" x 4".

FILET CROCHET 
Follow the chart. An open square = 1 dc, ch 1, skip 1 st of previous row, 1 dc. A filled square = 3 dc. On the chart, the last st of 1 square serves as the first st of the foll square.

DIRECTIONS
 Ch 116 + ch 3 to turn (serves as first dc).
 ROW 1: 1 dc in the 4th ch from the hook, 1 dc in each of the foll ch = 117 dc. Continue by foll chart from rows 2 to 70. Beg each row with ch 3 and always work the last dc in the 3rd ch of the turning ch of previous row. Fasten off.

FINISHING
 Pin piece to indicated measurement. Dampen and let dry. Bend the wire to the same shape as the wall hanging and tape the ends together. Whipstitch edges around wire or join to wire by working I row of sc around wire. Fasten off.
